Review Your Student Aid Report

A few weeks after you submit your financial aid applications, you should receive the Student Aid Report (SAR) or California Aid Report (CAR) in your email. This report tells you how much the government thinks you and your family can afford to pay for college (this is known as your Expected Family Contribution, or EFC). Check that your SAR lists an EFC. If it doesn’t, your application is incomplete!
